Gray’s Bio
Gray Poehnell is an experienced career consultant with over 21 years experience approaching career with holistic approaches that cultivate hope, practical spirituality, creativity, imagination, and career integrity. As partner to Dr. Norm Amundson in Ergon Communications, he has participated in the development and writing of numerous career counselling projects, programs, and resources (including several workbooks: Career Pathways, Career Crossroads, CareerScope, and Guiding Circles). Having worked with diverse client populations (such as youth, social assistance recipients, older adults, immigrants, professionals, Aboriginals, and multi-barried clients), Gray is also widely recognized for his dynamic training of career practitioners both nationally and internationally. Gray is of Metis descent and since 2002 has been developing career approaches and tools that reflect values, such as spirituality, community, and life balance, which are integral to the lives of many people, including Aboriginal peoples. Through workshops, conference sessions, and keynotes, he has presented the Guiding Circles approach to over 2000 career practitioners, who work with indigenous peoples and other client groups that benefit from a more holistic approach, such as students, multi-barriered clients, or corrections inmates. His new book, co-authored with Norm Amundson, Hope-Filled Engagement, is a much anticipated presentation of the concepts, processes, and types of activities that are reflected in the Guiding Circles workbooks. He is very happily married, has 2 adult daughters, and currently lives in beautiful Steveston at the mouth of the Fraser River, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Intro
The following is a list of descriptions of a number of the areas I currently present on. If there are other specific topics people are interested in, I could see what I have on it and develop something specifically for your needs.
Obviously these can all be adapted as needed into the contexts of workshops (for 1 or more days), conference presentations (1 hour or more), or keynote presentations. Once topics are chosen, we can what will fit best in what slots and talk about details.
All of these can be interactive workshops which balance informal lecture with experiential exercises.
The presentations on Hope-Filled Engagement, CareerCraft, Career Integrity, Guiding Circles, Imagination and Career, and the Integrated Heart are all good ones for a keynote.
As to costs, I usually charge presenting fees plus expenses (flights, taxis, accommodations, meals, etc.). This is negotiable. My usual range is $1,200 – $1,500 per day for workshops and more for keynotes; however I am flexible with my rates when limited budgets necessitate this. If extra time is necessary to reach a training location, it may be necessary to negotiate appropriate increases in expenses. Sometimes costs, such as international travel, may be shared between several organizations requesting presentations. When planning international trips such as to Australia or Europe, I usually like to plan for 4 weeks or more.
